MEET MK

| A Georgia peach with a New York State of Mind |

MK was born beachside in Melbourne, Florida but shortly moved up to Atlanta, Georgia, which she calls home. MK began dancing at the age of 2 when her mother got tired of having to hold back her curly headed toddler from constantly decided she was a gymnast just like her 6 year old sister at the gym. As a pianist and songwriter, MK's dad fueled her love of music with everything from Elton John to Tom Petty.

In high school, MK found that her love of singing and dancing could collide alongside the beautiful craft of acting. With Georgia on her mind, she followed her gut and began attending James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA under the direction of Kate Arecchi where she has grown into the performer she is today.

Currently, Mary Kathryn is exploring the development of her craft through her love of guitar. She enjoys taking musical theatre pieces and transforming them into a new acoustic sound and arrangement that come from her heart. She has covered pieces like Stephen Sondheim's "Being Alive", Andrew Lippa's "I'm Not Waiting," and Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Unexpected Song." She loves to explore new voices of these classic songs that have helped shape musical theatre into what it is today. Demos and Youtube videos to come!

MK is also passionate about fighting for justice in our world today, specifically for men and women trapped in modern day slavery. She has just completed her senior thesis at JMU which argues for the use of Dance Movement Therapy as a means of healing and restoration for survivors of human trafficking. She is a proud member and advocate for the End It Movement.
